Distracting, roaming hordes of security
"The show was great with awesome bands. Short transitions and intermissions were nice. The security was oppressive, with packs of 4 staff walking by every 2 minutes, shining flashlights and telling people to clear the aisles. Standing and moving were the nature of the music, but the security chastised us for being slightly outside the bounds of the aisle chair at least 15 times. Two guys next to me were 300 lbs. To improve, open up the floor seating, reduce the security staff by half, and equip them with red flashlights. This would have been a nice show."
Rememberable
I have attended three separate concert events at the Heartland Event Center. By far, this concert was the best of the three events. I really love to hang out close to the techs that are in charge of the Front House system, as I am a sound engineer myself, on a smaller scale. The FH sound engineer for The Dirty Dozen Brass Band was incredible back a year or two ago. I have seen the Midas Pro 6 Front House console being used at 2 of the 3 events at Heartland Event Center. The rest was fairly mudded up, as I watched other engineers chuckle at The Dirty Dozen Brass Band's sound engineer. However, I knew better. He was workin the console just like he was in the actual group. Buck Cherry had a very good mix, I will say. Also, I was soo pleased with the overall consistent mix throughout the night at the latest concert. Very happy.
